Our modern-day homes can become full of all sorts of nasty airborne ‘chemicals’ due to the variety of materials used in furniture, carpets and paints.  This combined with outdoor pollution creeping into our homes can result in very poor air quality even indoors.  Some houseplants can actually assist in reducing the bad air quality from our homes by purifying the air around us.  Below is a list of the top 10 best air purifying houseplants that you need in your life that can help make your home not only decorative, but a healthy environment too!

Peace Lilly

A well-known houseplant that blossoms indoor is the excellent Peace Lily. These plants have beautiful white flowers and have been recognized as one of the best houseplants for expelling cruel chemicals and decontaminating the air! They work by retaining the airborne ‘toxins’ through their leaves and break them down into the soil. Make sure you drain water all the way through the pot as the leaves can sometimes develop a tendency to become yellowish brown at the tips.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera provides many health and wellbeing benefits due to its healing ability, making it a common plant for the home. However, it also provides air purifying abilities to help get rid of some common chemicals founds in household detergents, paint & glue. Aloe Vera actually releases oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide during the night – so it keeps doing a great job even while you sleep!
